“I have a philofosy,” said my daughter, who still can’t pronounce the word exactly right. “I think God made these feathers more spread apart than the others so Penny can hear through them. See those others? They’re thick and fluffy to keep her warm, but the ones that cover her ears are different.” While observing her pet bird’s feathers the last few months, my daughter has discovered the curious ways that God has uniquely prepared her bird for every function and season of life. Though we have all witnessed amazing animal survival features, we often wonder why God doesn’t prepare us for what’s ahead.
Indeed, He does! We just don’t realize it. Perhaps we are not looking for our strengths and assets, perhaps we are afraid, or maybe we are deceived, discouraged, or new to observing God’s ways in our lives. The Bible reveals how God prepares us as a people, and a peek into our recent past will reveal the preparation that is uniquely ours. But we often forget the greatest preparation of all: God himself. Active, loving, renewing and wise, God gives us everything we need to face tomorrow in his ever-present Holy Spirit.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us…” – 2 Peter 1:3
